crysis9000 Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 Does anyone know what movie file types I can watch on my XBox 360 using Window Media Player? I hooked up my XBox to my PC using Windows Media Player (Vista), but it doesn't seem to want to play any of my AVI movies. Any help or advice would be great. Thanks. viperk1 Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 (edited) I also vote for tversity. This is the guide I followed to set it up: http://gizmodo.com/5096103/a-complete-guid...xbox-360-or-wii I use it in combination with CCCP Theres a lot of other software out there that can do the job though. Google it up a little. Edited December 17, 2008 by viperk1
Angry_Games Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 you can also re-encode your movies to either WMV or Xvid AVI and the 360 will play them natively (right off a memory stick). That's all I do...drop files into WinAVI Converter 8.0 or just get (or re-encode) Xvid/Divx movie files which 360 supports
ir_cow Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 if it doesnt want to play avi files you need update your 360, about a year ago they released mp4, avi (divx) support. i never had a problem playing any avi file. put a avi dvix or mp4 file on a usb drive and try to play it on the 360 and when connected to the internet it will tell you to download some codecs. edit: im waiting for MKV support, anyone else with me? crysis9000 Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 Wow, thanks for all the feedback gang. I'll definitely try tversity.com first because I didn't want to have to recode any of my movies. Thanks!

The godsend for us PS3 users is MKV to VOB. it also muxes to VOB, MP4 M2TS from MKV takes just a few seconds. This may work for 360 if it supports those formats
