Crow47 Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 Right now I have the option to get either for about $200 -GA EP35 DS3l and a C2D e7200 @ 2.53ghz -XFX 680i SLI and a C2D e6750 @ 2.66ghz Which one would be better for oc'ing? Right now I really care about getting the max performance I can, and I'm not sure if it's worth getting the 680i even though it's a better motherboard (I think...). Any direction is appreciated, thanks.
The Smith Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 (edited) I got to 4.5GHz benchmark stable on a E7300 using a P35-DS3R, so almost the same hardware. I don't know about the DS3L, but 500+ FSB is an easy shot for my DS3R. Edited October 14, 2008 by The Smith

Crow47 Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 That's too expensive, mate. Keep in mind I'm in the US, here. Is there a cpu/mobo combo that I should be looking at as opposed to the ones I posted before? I'd like to stay around $220 but I can go up to $250. troy5061 Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 (edited) In my own experience a P35 will own a 680i when it comes to the overclocking dept. I personally like the DFI DK P35 T2RS. Yea you can get a P45 for about the same price but this board is arguably one of the best P35s in existance. When I bought mine P45 just came out and I wanted something with a bug free mature bios and it delivered. I can get 500fsb on my Q9450 out of it. If I had better CPU cooling I could run 500x8= 4ghz all day long. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813136043 This is definetly the best board ive ever had. Ive had a bunch of 650is, 680is, 780is and they dont compare. Im running 475x8 now for 3.8ghz and its prime stable for 16+hours. My cpu temps are starting to get a little warm, I need to upgrade to water or the Ultra 120 cooler. Crow47 Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 I think I'm going to go with the Gigabyte. The DFI is just out of my price range sadly. I'll let you all know how it OC's
