To quote Penn Jillette:

Unpleasant, myopic, impotent despot! icon13.gif

They won't be happy until nobody can listen to music without worrying who's around. That's bull crap. Before you know it, it'll be a crime to play a musical instrument without an expensive licence. No more piano lessons for junior anymore!

Careful if you're listening to headphones and you subconsciously start humming along; they may decide to slap you w/ a copyright infringement lawsuit

Should be ok, as long as you humm less than 30 seconds of the tune.

This is of course pure rubbish. I have been following this in the Uk with a lot of interest, for the simple reason that according to a certain labels litigation lawyer, Uk case law has already been ruled upon and made. How the judge has allowed the case to go forward is a complete mystery. As has been pointed out, playing a radio in public (even in the UK) is not an infringement of copyright, never was, isn't now, and as long as we have to pay for a TV liscence, never will be. For those of you that don't know, in the UK a tv liscence is also a radio liscence.
