3800+x2 Not hitting 3GHz

I would like to tell all those people claiming they could hit 3GHz on air with a 3800+ ; i tried, following the dfi oc guid (i mean dyi), 1.7 volts will not hit 3GHz. Outa luck i guess. Temps were a bit hot at 35-36C load. Still i couldn't hit 3.

How many people have you seen claim 3GHz with a Socket 939 X2 3800+? I have only seen one that was proven at 3GHz.

 

The 65nm AM2 does seem to scale well and I have seen a number of lower end X2's hit 3G +..

3Ghz with a 3800+ isn't common at all and I've not seen many people "claiming" they have. If you wanted 3Ghz you should have gotten an Opteron 165 or 170.

no overclock is garented rare but in theory u can get a cpu that wont overclock 1 mhz and u can get a cpu that will do 3.0 and not go above 30c on stock cooling its all a roll of the dice ... some cpu's do better than others but still a gamble

I think you mean X2 3600 :confused: on AM2 socket

 

That one has a good chance of hitting 3.0

And it IS a 3800+ x2.

The first chip is one of the best X2 3800 steppings AND he took the IHS off..
