red930 Posted May 19, 2007 Posted May 19, 2007 Had a meeting with the contract office officials this afternoon from the Space Center. Even though I'm not a minority or woman owned company it seems I've got a very good chance of picking up some serious work over the next few years if things come together. It's quite amazing the number of companies that are "in the name of" a woman or minority just for contract quota purposes. I have to compete on a contract at a disadvantage simply because of the rules. Three of my local competitors have placed their business in their wife's name for the sole purpose of "gaming" the system. This puts them at the top of the contractor list regardless of past performance and allows them to get contracts with a higher total cost of completion even if they aren't the best fit for the contract. I've been lucky enough to have my work speak for its self earning a "preferred vendor" status that keeps me high enough to compete and actually win contracts. I appreciate the kind words of encouragement from everyone and can only hope you guys make your own "good luck" with hard work and achievement. Thanks.
