Candymancan Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 I just got my new pc and the Opty came from Newegg's New Jersy warehouse, it was a CCBBE 0617 RPMW which is soppose to get around 2800-3100mhz on some overclock charts i looked @. I am able to get 3ghz stable on core 1, but core 2 seems to only behave @ 2850mhz so far. Using 1.37v i tried using 1.45-even 1.50v and it just wont become stable. Temps are 26c idle and 35-38c load watercooled
Boosted420a Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 Mine came from the Jersey warehouse. CCBBE 0617FPMW. Running 2.7ghz @ stock voltage 300x9 1:1. I had 2.8ghz stable as well, but i know I had too many volts going to it.

Boosted420a Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 How many volts were you running through it to get 2.8Ghz? I just set it to 2.8ghz, some weird combo of 1.3v + XXX% to reach 1.46v in CPU-Z, so porbably around 1.475(ish)for vcore, and had 1 stick of ram set to about 255mhz, and ran SP2004 overnight I was testing my sticks of ram out, and found one of them to be bad. I think thats too high concidering 2.7GHz passed on stock voltage. But then again who knows.
CustomBuild Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 So far I have been Prime stable (10-12hrs before I stopped the tests) at: 2800@stock [email protected] [email protected]+104% (1.416V) [email protected]+104% (1.442V) I did some spot checking with a DMM and voltages are within 0 to -.005V of the setting. The only thing that concerns me a little bit is that stability may be some function of temperature. Each 50MHz step required a voltage increase of about .025V except 2850 to 2900 which required .041V. All the other tests were run at an ambient of ~20C which results in a MBM temp of 37C and Core temps of ~39C. The 2900MHz test was run when it was warmer ~24C ambient which resulted in MBM temps of ~39 and Core Temps of ~41-42. Once I settle on a freq and get my mem tweaked out, I may have to run some temp experiments to see what effect that has on Prime stability. Brother Esau Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 OK... cant find the paper that I wrote the stepping down on but....I have it in another expert build and have been Stress Priming that all night @ 2.8ghz and it passed 8hrs @ 1.375v ......Testing 2.9ghz @ 1.375v as we speak! So far looks good passed superpi and OCCT running Prime95 right now Well I hate too say it but this Biatch aint for Sale and will be going in my rig paired with some Mushkin Redlines XP4000 and Merlin's Bios I will deffinately be joining the 3ghz Club house soon! Oh yea... StressPrime with stock cooler @ 2.9ghz 47c Edit: .....Testing....... 2.9ghz @ 1.375 @ 104%
Candymancan Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 Well my max i think is 2850mhz, if i go to 2900mhz no amount of voltage helps get it stable i tried up to 1.55v. So im sitting happily @ 2850mhz using 1.40v, Btw why do you guys use that 104%-110% thing wouldnt it just be easir to pick 1.40-1.42-1.45 ect from the voltage like i do

Using a DMM I found that on my board: 104% was realy 103% 110% was really 109.6% 113% was really 112.7% If you build a little table in excel, you will see that the VID special actually does give you the ability to select voltages between 1.40 and 1.425 for example. While not necessary since if you could be stable at 1.416 (1.365+104%) you would also be stable at 1.425, I would rather run 1.416 if I could

Brother Esau Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 UPDATE: My Opty 170 CCBBE 0615DPMW SO FAR 2.9GHZ @ 1.375V = 104%
CustomBuild Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 I hit 3000MHz Also have some decient timmings on my Mushkind thanks to Praz's timmings. Now I need to download and run all the other 3dMarks to make the official OCC database post. VID = 1.35+110% ~1.48V
