why opteron?

The only point I was trying to make was that Opterons and retail Athlon 64s are not the same. For one Opterons are built to handle higher stresses of server/workstation requirements, Thats why even after the price drops 1xx series opterons still are priced higher; you can get an X2 4400 for 200 bucks where the 165 is cheapest around 225 with a 400mhz difference in base clocks. The beauty of these cpus is that they can go in any K8 based motherboard (939), but AMD doesn't really want consumers to do this. The quality of the Opterons probably is the reason they tend to have higher overclock rates versus retail versions.
