red930 Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 I've been running the 618 beta for a while now and have gotten familiar with the new stuff. I like the idea of having all the memory timings and benchmarks on a single page. EVEREST allows you to save the image making it easier to post results. eg: http://myweb.cableone.net/mondo/OCZDualChannel.png
hawkeyefan Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 lol, I must be the only negative nelly running around who dislikes Everest I've always kind of viewed it as Sandra Lite with totally bogus "benchmarks" but it sure looks good in its new incarnation, will d/l and give it a chance, thanks for the heads-up soundx98:D
ReMoose Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 everest is the best hands down, i may actually buy it now instead of running 2.20 free. 1 question though, if i buy it. is it a 1 time fee or do i have to purchase each update? NEOAethyr Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 Hey dudes, how do I run the seperate dll files for those benchs and cpuid, stuff like that? I got the latest corp nr edition, which I'm not used to, it has all the goodies, but it does'nt have them intergrated into everest, just seperate dll's, I dn if it's that way with ue v3 or not, I had 2.8 ue... Can someone take a look at there shortcuts and paste what they do here? The reason I dn, is because I dl'ed the zip ver from lavalys, instead of the installer... : Edit: NuLL, it depends on the liceance you have. soundx98 Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 I purchased the 1st Ultimate (2.5), I've received free updates to 2.8 and 3.0. So over a year of updates at this point.
red930 Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 As far as I know, the "ZIP" version would be extracted into a folder as there is no install routine. Once the files are in the folder you simply run the everest.exe. This is how the beta versions are distributed. NEOAethyr Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 Cool . I have: Monitor Diagnostics System Stability Test EVEREST CPUID So I guess I do have to get the ultimate edition . When I do, I'm gonna look around in it because I think this corp ver may have alot more in it. Not unless they revamped it this much... Would be easy enough to port the modules to the corp ver, maybe... Anyways thanks for the help .
Angry_Games Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 I've always kind of viewed it as Sandra Lite with totally bogus "benchmarks" they aren't bogus, and they are actually as good if not better than Sandra... but that is beyond the point the point is that they are benchmarks that are easy to download and run and if everyone compares their own bench results with others using the same version, then you get an idea of where your machine stands in comparison. There's really no 'right' or 'wrong' benchmarks...I hope you can wipe that from your mind because every benchmark "measures" something, and if 1,000+ of us are using the same benchmark, it makes comparing performance easier (instead of trying to compare sandra vs everest vs 3dmark vs aquamark etc) I've been using everest since the day I heard about it, waaaay back in 2 point something or other. It is a small download that has many excellent features...I can highly suggest it to anyone who wishes to purchase it...as unfortunately there is no free version anymore =( But...it is most definitely worth it to compare to others here that will be using it. Plus as soundx98 says, it gets plenty of updates as new systems come out (and who wouldn't like to bench their NF3 vs their current NF4 vs their future Conroe? lol)
