Angry_Games Posted February 4, 2007 Posted February 4, 2007 yep that is the beauty of the 8800GTX...technodan has tested standard stock resolutions vs full-on super high res w/16xAA etc and found the difference to be almost negligible, which is a sign that the 8800 is an extremely strong, extremely efficient gpu (and it doesn't seem to matter what cpu you couple it with, however dual-cores tend to perform a little better of course, and of course, the low-end cpu's like a 1600mhz Sempron cannot compare with say a dual-core 2Ghz A64) as for 8800 SLI, its a total waste of money, not to mention that the drivers still stink for it (and this is coming from a guy who has never even touched an 8800). I don't see any reason for SLI on the 8800's at this time when a single 8800 can run 1920x1080 @ 16xAA and all the eye candy maxed soon enough Nvidia will ferret out the bugs and inconsistencies and 8800 SLI will be a power move, as well as games that are coming will utilize it (probably Unreal3 and Crysis engines to start with, though from what we've seen, a single 8800GTX is more than enough for both engines running full-res)
CharmedLover84 Posted February 4, 2007 Posted February 4, 2007 Yeah, I'll be getting it for Crysis if I think I'll need it cuz I'm gonna be on that game like white on rice And I wouldn't mind an even larger FPS boost in Oblivion, assuming the drivers actually gave me a boost with that stupid game engine LOL
