  1. I don't know what I did, but it's back... the lag/loading issue... tried going to diag mode again didn't work. I will try that again after my sims tonight, see if maybe I missed something that needs to be disabled. God this pisses me off, finally had my system happy and my damn liquid cooling having bubbles and a leak made me have to remove it and now I'm back to the same issues I had the first time I removed it >
  2. Yeah. I'm hopin' by some shere feat of magic I can pull off 4Ghz but I don't think it's gonna happen til I at the very least get another cold wintery night to Prime on so my load temps won't be so bad.

  4. Yep and I just passed 15 hours of Prime95 at 3.8GHz with my new Ultra 1600W so she's definitely not a dud Posting the OCDB now hehe gotta remember how to do one, haven't done one in so long. http://www.diy-street.com/forum/showpost.p...94&postcount=95
  5. Once I get full stability with the new PSU I plan to do that, but I'm having that g** d*** 6-7 hours in Prime95 freeze issue, so trying to rectify that first lol I think it's just kinks from the new PSU being in and my RAM being in the wrong slots, we'll see. It's at 6 hours now, no errors/freezes yet and temps are the same as when it passed at 3.8 last time, so I ain't too worried.
  6. Yeah it is. Retesting with the new PSU @ 3.8GHz while I'm at work today, so hopefully I'll be coming home to a 100% stable computer that's good for some serious fragging tonight. I'll have to post my Windows XP Service Tweaks tonight (I made them when I first got XP based off of Black Viper's Service Tweaks, eliminates all non-essential services that the common gamer doesn't use). I was shocked when I first rebooted after doing them, 2 1/2 loading bars to get in to Windows. It has since gone up, but that was still impressive (now @ ~4 1/4 bars and steady). Musta been one of the services... dunno which one. Cuz now I can run Everest, my UPS Monitor, CoreTemps and Prime95 (was running when I left) and programs that usually take a while to load just normally when I'm not having issues (like PowerTools) load up quicker than normal. I like it :tooth: Hopefully I'll be posting tonight with 3.8GHz @ 1.48125Vs instead of 1.48275V, not like it's a huge diffy (CPUz doesn't even show a voltage readout difference thanks to the VDROOP Mod I did) but it does still make a slight difference in temps, I think... we'll see... didn't have time to sit there and watch load temps when it finally got to 8k cuz I woke up 30 minutes before I had to be to work ::Bleh:: lol Anywho :spam: I'm done :tooth:
  7. This PSU is sturdy when you get a working model. Passed all benchmarks AND!!!! I FIXED THE LAG :-D Dunno what program/service it was, but I went in to Diagnostic Mode, which only runs 12 services, and it wasn't there... so I did my Windows XP Services Tweaks from the good old days, disabled everything not needed for the next boot up, then removed Indexing and crap, and viola, Poof goes the lag :-D I'm very happy right now... 15.6K at 3.8GHz ain't too bad for an Ultra I think. I could probably break 16k with some heavy OCing on the card, but nah. I'm so looking forward to playing Crysis again... eeeexcellent. Anyway, I went from (in the position I'm in right now) having 60 Processes running, to right now, as we speak, with AOL, Xfire and two IEs running, 46 processes. One of the 14ish I disabled musta been the problem.
  8. Well I can now take comfort in the fact that it's not my motherboard or my ram. Different RAM, same effect. Guess I'll order a new hard drive and hope a fresh install with only that drive in will fix this.
  9. Well, new PSU works great so far, tested in 3DMark03 and passed, only dipped from 12.197 to 12.141 under 3DMark03 load (4000+FPS with just one card =-O) so that's good... However... Lag issue isn't gone. Loading a HTML file for viewing in IE takes 5-10 seconds just to pull up... it used to be instantaneous on my old configuration before all the problems started EDIT: Anyone? It only happens while loading certain things or closing certain things... ??? I'm going to shut down and try different RAM, if that has no effect I'm gonna order a new HDD and try that with a new install and all my files on there... if that don't work I dunno wtf I'm gonna do.
  10. Meh, ain't like mY PSU can handle the SLI of two Ultras full on anyway... can't wait to get my Ultra 1600W back, assuming it works this time, no more having to worry if 3DMark03 hitting 6000FPS is going to make my PSU shut down because of overamping every time I run it LOL
  11. Look at mine: Reservoir is the white/beige thing. I like having one, most people prefer a simple fill tank. I don't know HOW the person in the original poster's picture can handle having their fill tank RIGHT THERE where the video card is... I mean, how the f*** do they get the video card out? LOL
  12. Skimping on a PSU for an 8 series is like putting a Ford Pinto engine in a Lamborghini. NOT a good idea.
  13. Tested at 3.8GHz with the FSB:RAM @ 1:1 @ 1900MHz:950MHz, with those drivers and the 700/1725/1125 clocks on the card, 16257 :-D I imagine I'd be breaking down 20k's door, STABLE FOR THE FIRST TIME, if I still had SLI. Damn me for selling two of my three cards.
  14. Try the ones I just got, they increased the score to the 14506 number... I believe they're like 171.16 or some junk, I'll letcha know after I get ready for work, lol
  15. Well... I don't want to sound too optimistic but I think the BIOS flash may have fixed it partially at least... gonna test it out back at 3.8GHz tomorrow... did some tests at stock with the new drivers.... holy GOD did NVidia do somethin' nice: 169.28 drivers: 3Dmark06: 13836 at all stock on my system New drivers I tested: 3DMark06: 14506 =-O no OCing on any part in my system. DAYUM. 700pts from a driver revision. That's sick.
  16. Welp, assuming a BIOS flash helps, the next thing I will be doing is installing drivers that will supposedly work with the new 9600GT when released ::drools:: And works with all current 6-7-8 series cards. Something about Beta International Drivers makes me feel... safe... same with the 169.28s I use now. Maybe it's the large file size. hehe Anywho, 1 hour 35 minutes roughly speaking to 24 hours... til then I sit here, bored to .. ::wishes she was playing Crysis right now::
  17. Well, in another 3 hours, I'll do the BIOS flash, cuz by then it'll be 24 hours stable in Prime95 at stock, worthy of a Stock Database entry. I did go to basic setup during install each time (one HDD, RAM, GPU and sound card) and XP has continued to do it... maybe it is the drives having issues, who knows... what erks me is that it's not consistant. I will run WD's diag tool if nothin' works any better with the flash etc. and see if that finds anything up... with my Vista Drive being dead, which didn't know until recently, could be... And yes it's extremely annoying because up until 2 1/2 weeks ago when I got the dumbass idea to clean out my cooling system and redo the tubing, my system never EVER had any issues, and when I did that, problems started that I thought were my 680i dying, so I set it up for RMA, ordered the 780i with the new PSU, hooked up that up, tried Tri-SLI, killed the board, HDD and PSU, RMAed all that junk, and it's been turmoil since then. One thing that is nice about stock... load temps LMAO 48C Full Prime95 8k FFT runs load is sweeeeeeeeet and that's core temperature, mowahaha. lol First time this baby has ever been stable at stock settings, never been able to tame this processor to stock before. I love this board, hope it's not the cause of the issue.
  18. I haven't played around with SP3 at all, been too busy playin' Crysis. That's the weirdest part is that it games just fine. I don't understand that at all. You'd think it was have freeze/lag issues in game too.
  19. Oh, and for those that didn't check that thread, I had a PSU/mobo fail that took my Vista drive with it, so there's no Vista help needed, just XP Pro SP2 hehe
  20. I've been running XP SP2 on this machine and my previous machines for 2 years+, never had this issue before recently It's fully liscensed, this one hasn't been activated yet, but that's never caused lag before recently.
  21. I'll try that as well, thank you. EDIT: Neither had any effect on Control Panel... gonna let it finish testing, flash to the latest BIOS, and hope that fixes it... cuz if it doesn't I don't know what I'm going to do if RAM or HDD ain't the issue.
  22. Forgive me but I'm pretty tired... do I do that with Internet Options or the Temp folder in Windows folder?
  23. What i don't understand is why this is suddenly an issue when it never has been. However, it appears you MAY have been spot on. I'll test it out when I'm not priming the holy god out of the machine LOLs. Thank you VERY much for the quick response, however little or lot helpful it turns out to be Wevs, one of the first OS-based problem solving steps I've heard for my issue. It at least helped with Control Panel taking so darn long to pull up sometimes, so far. EDIT: Cancel that, it's still there... frackin' whore ::sigh::
  24. hi guys... figured I'd try to seek the help of other professionals here since SLIzone hasn't been much help. My issue is detailed here: http://forums.slizone.com/index.php?showto...=0entry120394 Basically, sometimes often, sometimes only once in a while, but almost all the time on things like Control Panel and Start Menu & Taskbar Properties, I get a hang when loading the stuff, sometimes as short as 2-4 seconds, which is normal, and sometimes up to 40 seconds or more I don't know why this is happening. I'm currently at STOCK everything and it's STILL doing it. I have reinstalled my OS 4 times now, on 3 different HDDs, fresh installs with fresh formats, and it has had no effect. Right now I'm up to 18 hours of Prime95 stability at stock testing, and it's doing it on this install too. It's like my system is having to "spool up" before it can freakin' do things sometimes. I don't have anything stupid like TMI or C1E enabled in BIOS. This has been happening every since I fried a 1600W Ultra PSU & 780i while attemping Triple SLI for the first time, I RMAed the board cuz it wouldn't power up, got a brand spankin' new one back, which is what I'm using now. The PSU is still being shipped back to me, so I'm on my Fortron 1000W. It runs great, except for this frackin' lag. THE ODDEST PART IS: THE LAG DOES NOT HAPPEN IN GAMES. AT ALL. WTF? Anyone have ANY ideas? I've tried defragging as well, no effect. I've virus scanned all my drives with several different VSers through the different installs, no viruses of any kind, I'm not installing any new programs at all, same stuff I've been using for the past two years. After it tests 100% stable at stock for 24 hours, I'm going to try different RAM to see if maybe my RAM took a hit, and if that has no effect, I may order a new hard drive, but I am so close to throwing in the towel it's not even funny. I've been having issues for 2 1/2 weeks straight now, ever since I took my damn LC off to clean it out and put new coolant in it. I've been through 3 motherboards now, cuz I got a new 780i, killed it, went back to the 680i I had, now I'm on a new 780i, reinstalled each time. The issue first surfaced on the 680i upon reinstall, I think... I can't remember. Any suggestions? Thanks guys. 25. I dun wanna go liquid on my cards til I'm sitting on a box full of 9800GTXs, lol, too expensive and pointless with the 9s being so close, even if they are only a 30% increase over current cards, I imagine 3 9800GTXs with my processor on a 780i would be pretty pimp. We'll see, I guess, I'm still waiting on my darn third 8800 to get here so I can try it out >, SLI and Vista 64-Bit have been workin' well though. Well enough that I haven't touched XP in 3-4 days.
