GmAz Posted September 14, 2003 Posted September 14, 2003 (edited) Is there any way to replace the fans in a power supply. I mean, are they the same 80mm fans with the connectors cut off and soldered onto the board? Reason being is that I have a fan in my PSU that rattles like mad and drives me up the wall, around the ceiling and back down again. DevilMB3017 Posted September 14, 2003 Posted September 14, 2003 Yea, you can just take that fan out and replace them. However, sometimes, the PSU fan will have half of it missing...like |> |> |> |> |> Where the >s are the blades. Worse comes to worse, hack up a fan so they match! d3bruts1d Posted September 14, 2003 Posted September 14, 2003 Most PSU fan's have a different connector (usually 2 pin) than most case fans. I replaced mine, with a little cutting, splicing, and tape... no problems whatso ever. Bishop has also replaced his. Here is a pic I took whle modding my PSU... it shows the 2-pin fan connector that my PSU uses.
kobalt Posted September 15, 2003 Posted September 15, 2003 (edited) Yeah cut and solder usually does the job,led fans may use more power than regular ones tho, so if it's your idea splice it ("y" connect it)with a yellow 12v+ going into a power molex 4 pins and any black - Edited September 15, 2003 by kobalt

d3bruts1d Posted September 15, 2003 Posted September 15, 2003 Ya, Bishop and I modded the same PSU. Replaced the stupid 4-color LED fan in the Kingwin with a red 4-LED fan. He used an Antec fan, and I used a CoolerMaster fan.
