Kaiser_SOse Posted December 25, 2005 Posted December 25, 2005 Well with the A64 CPUs using 1:1 ratio is not going to offer a superior performance increase. So you could also ask yourself, why would I need memory that can OC to 300Mhz+? (or handle 1:1) Either way, lower timings are always an advantage. Now, I am confused, doesnt this go against AG timing sticky in the OC forum Sharp, do you know what sticks these are made from - UCCC or ... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16820146397 mushkin eXtreme Performance 2GB DDR 500 (PC 4000)
caebron Posted December 25, 2005 Posted December 25, 2005 What do you guys think of these in regards to DFI boards: http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?...N82E16820221137 Review: http://www.anandtech.com/memory/showdoc.aspx?i=2560 They are about a $100 less than OCZ's & Corsairs equivalent - but do you get what you pay for, or are you getting awesome RAM for cheap? Sharp Posted December 25, 2005 Posted December 25, 2005 Kaiser_SOse, Angry's post was showing that you do not need memory that can handle 1:1 to achieve maximum performance. Either way, lower timings are always an advantage If the TCCD memory could run at 300Mhz with 2-2-2-5 it would be faster than TCCD running at 2.5-4-4-7. So timings always make a difference? Yes they are UCCC chips. Caebron, the review is good, 278Mhz but that kit was the PC4200 version. It should be on ok buy.

Squid1 Posted December 25, 2005 Posted December 25, 2005 For those who want cheap 2x 1 GB sticks that do frequencies from 200 to 250 mHz guaranteed and who can live with moderate timings, there is no question that the UCCC kits are best by far at this point in time. A lot of people have these on DFI boards. I am getting a little tired of the precise same question asked all over again, as if some posters are write-only devices Here are the kits with UCCC. Only 200 MHz and 3-4-4-8 at 200 MHz? That's pretty low even for me who's usualy saying that RAM fiddling is a useless microoptimization. Squid1 Posted December 26, 2005 Posted December 26, 2005 Can you add one more for reference OCZ 2GB DDR 400 (PC 3200) Dual Channel Platinum System Memory http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16820227210 These are ... not good They pretty much overclock not at all. I don't know what chips they have, but they are first-generation gigabyte sticks which don't do any of the tricks that UCCC or the better CE-6 are doing. They are not even cheaper than the guaranteed PC4000 sticks.

Squid1 Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 They are not good you say? No, I said they won't overclock much. Otherwise they are good. These are the exact sticks Rgone recommends in this thread , post 2 - http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread.php?t=35732 That was a general recommendation, not an overclocking one. Also, at the time the OCZ 3200 was substancially cheaper than the HZ which is not longer the case. Also, why the GSkill HZ over the ZX? Here is a quote from GS Technican ' the recent 2GBZX is not stable on Overclock, i recommend to buy 2GBHZ for now. but for DDR400 users, 2-3-2-5 2gbzx still is the best choice right? Since that posting Infineon delivered pretty bad chips to G.Skill (ZX) and Mushkin (Redlines) for the CE-6 equipped kits and many people came out very disappointed. Kits meet spec, overclock bad and cannot even hold that low overclock when doing 3D "work". OCZ seems to have preferred to stay out of stock for the EB kit and we have even seen an EB kit equipped with UCCC (although it is supposed to be an manufacturing error, I don't know whether that kit met EB speeds).
