El_Capitan Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 (edited) Just got my first of 3 MSI HD 7850 Power Editions's to play around with. They are, what I believe to be, this year's best price per performance graphics card. Here's a snippet of Unigine Heaven 2.1 benchmarks and comparisons against my best GTX 580 overclocking card, and a GTX 680 and HD 7970 at stock. Remember, AMD cards do perform better at Unigine Heaven benchmarks. MSI HD 7850 PE at stock: MSI HD 7850 PE at stock voltages but overclocked: MSI HD 7850 PE at 1.2V's and overclocked: MSI HD 7850 PE at 1.25V's and overclocked: Best overclocking GTX 580: GTX 680 at stock: HD 7970 at stock: I'm currently a little disappointed in the overclocking potential, but the two others may be a bit better in that department. I'll find that out tomorrow, hopefully. Here's some on-the-wall wattage measurements: 237W @ Stock 245W @ Stock V and GPU OC 254W @ Stock V and GPU+MEM OC 280W @ 1.2V and GPU+MEM OC 302W @ 1.25V and GPU+MEM OC Currently, it seems stock overclocks are the best with temps, and fan speed being the lowest, while still getting a 6.7 average FPS increase. I find it incredible that it comes pretty close to an overclocked GTX 580 and a GTX 680 at stock when overclocked. Once I get the other two, I'll take the best two and Crossfire them to see how they end up performing. I'll be running other gaming tests, btw, finally. Another snippet of coolness (literally as well as figuratively) in this article on my blog: http://computerhardwareupgrades.blogspot.com/2012/10/replacing-stock-tim-on-msi-hd-7850-pe.html Edited October 9, 2012 by El_Capitan

El_Capitan Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 Bought on Hardforums and the guy hasn't responded in over a week ASUS warranty is by serial. Find the serial number on the back of your card and check online to find the warranty status or call ASUS tech support.

Those benchmarks I ran was with just one single HD 7850... which I bought for $153 at Newegg (Open Box). El_Capitan Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 Updated OP with this: http://computerhardwareupgrades.blogspot.com/2012/10/replacing-stock-tim-on-msi-hd-7850-pe.html Basically, I removed the stock TIM and properly applied new TIM. My temps went from 70C at stock clocks and voltage during load to 57C at overclocked settings at 1.25V's during load. Fan speed went from a loud 90% at 85C to a barely audible 48% at 57C. El_Capitan Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 Got my final overclocks on all 3 cards. Stock Voltage Overclock Card #1 = 1115MHz/1470MHz Card #2 = 1145MHz/1450MHz Card #3 = 1145MHz/1465MHz 1.25V Voltage Overclock Card #1 = 1180MHz/1470MHz Card #2 = 1250MHz/1450MHz Card #3 = 1260MHz/1465MHz 1.3V Voltage Overclock Card #1 = 1195MHz/1470MHz - P7255 Card #2 = 1290MHz/1450MHz - P7583 *Card #3 = 1280MHz/1465MHz *(Doesn't like anything more than 1.275V's) - P7617 Card #3 scores the highest, but after the 1.25V Overclock, there's some signs of tearing. However, it got to 50FPS (or 49.4FPS at the most stable) on Unigine Heaven v2.1, beating a stock GTX 680, lol.
