Now, i Dunno what the limitations are because they keep changing. I baught Windows Vista for my PC and sometime this year I am intending to Upgrade to Dual Core Processor, More RAM and a GeForce 7 or 8 Graphics Card. I am also going to have to change the motherboard. Are there any Activation limitations about this. The whole thing is pointless aswell because it is getting cracked constantly and Piracy is going up anyway because of this.

it doesn't really matter all that much, at least it didn't with xp, all you should have to do if you run out is call them up and they will give you a number to put in. thats what happened to a friend of mine, he bought a copy of xp pro oem at a computer expo and when he went to activate it it said it was activated too many times so he called them

it's funny that they're trying to take all these measures to keep the software from getting cracked by WGA etc. and it's getting cracked more.... lawl. But anyways i've heard the same thing as RimX, so i wouldn't worry about it, it's your software, you payed for it so they better let you use it.

Are you guys saying this from experience/solid knowledge, or is this speculation? It'd be great if that's the answer, but so far no one has shown anything solid yet. "That's how XP worked" and "You bought it, it's yours" are logical assumptions, but I don't know that I'm ready to believe that that's how M$ sees it. Has anyone actually tested this yet?

Ive done this for XP once before. I had hosed my XP install three times within a week and when I got an error I called them and said "Im reformating my dell and it gave me this error..." (played stupid) and the lady gave me the activation number and all went well. This was with an OEM version, it could be different with retail.

Right.... but again, the question is about Vista. We all already know how it works for XP. My question is has anyone actually done it yet. You can assume anything you want, but we all know what that makes you :)

I have heard several times that the anti-piracy on Vista is much better. That being the case (plus my general distrust for M$), I am not sure I'd be so quick to assume it's like XP. But I don't know. That's why I'm asking if anyone actually has hard info on the subject.

well with vista you can activate it over the internet or phone, just like xp, and you can changer your key, it's surprisingly easier than xp to do that, but yes I personally don't have experience with vista activations other than the one time I activated my vista RC, hey verran send me $200 and I'll buy vista and install it reformat install ans so on till it gives me trouble and see what happens. And if you really don't like Microshaft you could always use this

I was told by a distributor that Vista activation will NOT work like XP did. In fact according to him once a Vista license key has been activated twice it will basically be disabled and unusable. In XP you just had to call M$ each time you re-activated, but from what I am being told by multiple distributors and M$ reps is that will not be the case with Vista.

THAT'S why I'm asking!!! I thought I had heard the same thing before, and frankly I don't put it past M$. Heck, I've installed XP more than five times in a weekend when I'm playing around with nLite or testing out new configurations. Even a chance of limited install counts is enough to put Vista on hold for me for a good while.

I guess we'll wait and see when people start posting their results :)
