When videocard manufacturers deviate from the reference design, it's generally done to differentiate its offerings from the competition. OCC has taken the ASUS EAH 4770 Formula Series card out for a spin, so to speak, to see how well the card performs - http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/as...ah4770_formula/

that little cooler made me chuckle, looks like a good card (though like you said, 40nm's are so few in quantity that their price/performance isn't anywhere as good as it could be. I still refer people who are looking at 4770s over to getting a 4850

Despite the price/performance issue you mentioned, 4770's are scarce here in NZ with most stores selling out all their stock like hotcakes.

Despite the price/performance issue you mentioned, 4770's are scarce here in NZ with most stores selling out all their stock like hotcakes. it's a shame they can't keep up with the demand, it's such a great card but they are asking just a bit to much for me to ever recommend it. It's really efficient but the 4850 has a little extra performance saved up -------------------- Mobo: Gigabyte EP45 EXTREME | Processor: Core 2 Quad Q9450 @ 4ghz 24/hr stable!
