Nemo Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 OCC reviews the Asus Xonar Essence STX soundcard. Just how well does it stack up against a custom modded X-Fi XtremeMusic? The results might surprise you - http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/as...ar_essence_stx/
jammin Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 Nice review there Steve. I'm impressed by how much thought ASUS has apparently put into the design of this card. I'd certainly like to listen to one myself.

Compxpert Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 We need more high grade cards like this from competitors maybe it will make Creative stop producing junk. Very informative review and what an exceptional card.

Very informative review and what an exceptional card. +1 I couldn't agree more. The quality and quantity of sound cards has been going downhill for a while now
hardnrg Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 Thanks everyone (especially Carl for suggesting it), yeah it was a lot of fun reviewing the card, although quite difficult to find fault in the product at all. Asus have steadily been building an amazing line up of soundcards to suit every level of requirements and budget, so while I still use my X-Fi XtremeMusic in one machine, if I was buying a new card, it wouldn't be one from Creative, it would be an Asus card, possibly the D2 or higher, based on the sound quality experienced with the Essence STX
