rocketmanj210 Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 I'v been debating on doing something like this once I get my rig all finalized. It would be nice to not have to drag my lcd monitor around when I have to carry my case everywhere. Thanks for the info and the pics looked great. soundx98 Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 I wish I could be more specific on some of this. One of the reasons I use the Automotive Screens is it's so dard easy to grap 12v to power the screen up. Laptop screens and PS screens can require a lot of work to find the correct parts of the Power Supply to connect (most laptop screens use 5v instead of 12v), and then you'll still need to find some way to intervace the Video input. Here are some links that may prove useful to you. http://www-128.ibm.com/developerworks/linu...y/l-playscreen/ http://www.bit-tech.net/modding/2004/07/07/psone_lcd/1.html http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/2006/03/2...ors_work/1.html http://www.bit-tech.net/modding/2003/12/23...e_dremel/1.html Google "Powering your LCD" will brink up a kazillion links. It may be more cost effective to build your own LCD Power Supply than trying to figue out an old latop or PS. I think Maxim and TI are the big players in the ICs for this project. crazy8s846 Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 I was wondering how hard would it be to use the screen out of a portable dvd player. Ive got one that wont play a dvd any more but the screen still works. Thanks for any info.
