Basically the same board, with maybe only 2 DIMM slots, at least 3.2 VDIMM option (although full 4V would be nice if doable), same CPU settings as the full size board, 1 PCI-E slot, and 3 PCI slots, Firewire and USB, heck maybe even onboard video.........I'd definately buy it. Lanparty suggests that you are lugging your system to a place where everyone hooks into a game server to play fast paced multi-player gaming. What better way than to have a nice compact mATX DFI nF4 Ultra to bring down the competition and not break your bones doing it. Yeah leave out SLI, that 2nd gigaLAN chip, the 4 extra SATA150 ports, etc. Just give us that famous DFI OC BIOS control range. I'd pay full price for one of DFI's mATX if they make one. $150 is very reasonable IMHO. Heck Shuttle charges $400 for their barebones kit. There are a few nF4 mATX boards that would rock if the BIOS would allow better overclocking adjustments. The Asus ASUS MB A8NE-FM is close but no cigar. If it sells well enough, then DFI will develop their version to keep market shares up. Granted mATX is a small niche market but so are DFI's Lanparty boards when you consider the total market size for PCs. Most Joe Sixpacks get Dells and so do the Joe Suits in the business world. DFI makes mATX boards but they are older technology and use the cheaper chipsets like VIA. If DFI doesn't make those mATX boards anymore then there is enough DFI mATX inventory in warehouses to keep the supplies stocked for a while. Sharp Posted July 3, 2005 Posted July 3, 2005 Hello, The problems with mATX, - Small case = poor air flow - big heatsinks wont fit. - mATX PSUs are expensive and to weak. So what gamer/OCer wants heat problems, power problems and no overclocking. I suppose if you wait long enough (years) everything will be smaller + liquid metal cooling.
