There is a nice little chart I made up in the BIOS Guide that you can download and print very easily.

 

It REALLY helps you keep all your settings straight-----going from one test to the next----switching RAM----Switching BIOS-----or just as a repository of what works. Prints fine off of IE----set your margins to .5 inch both sides in page setup before you print----leave in "Portrait" mode. It may take a few seconds to load...

Also-----CMOS Reloaded is a WONDERFUL addition to the DFI BIOS-----let's you store settings.....4 different sets total!!

 

And the best news of all----when you flash to a different BIOS-----you DO NOT lose all those saved settings!!!

Just going through the guide again. great job johnrr6.

 

Just noticed that Adrian's Rojak Pot had been upgraded to Version 8.1

 

Added 8 new BIOS options :-

 

* AGP Performance Control

* DCLK Feedback Delay

* DRAM Bus Selection

* MAC LAN

* MAC PHY IEEE Test

* Search for MDA Resources

* SSE/SSE2 Instructions

* Write CAS Latency (Twcl)

 

Updated the following BIOS options :-

 

* Boot To OS/2

* OS/2 Onboard Memory > 64M

* OS Select For DRAM > 64MB

 

easier to find if you sort by date of course - July stuff - now I know what they do

Good question.....

 

I just don't know what to tell you since I never work with dividers----only 1:1----but they say the AMD 64's are great for dividers with virtually no loss in performance----especially some of the new "over" dividers built into the later memory controllers.

 

You'll have to try both----see which is best for you.

 

Let us know----I am curious as well.

AMD's PDF named "BIOS configuration guide" states that TWCL must be always set to 1 on every AMD64 platform.

 

(26094.pdf is the file)

 

I recommend everyone who just wants to know a bit more than "copy & paste" memory settings from other people to give it a read, worth the time (that's not that much, either, the dram configuration part is not that long)

AMD's pdf number 26094 is titled "BIOS and Kernel Developer's Guide for AMD Athlon 64" and is 394 pages long. I searched AMD's US site for "BIOS configuration guide" and came up empty. I would like to read this, but do you have any other instructions on how to find it? :confused:

My misstake on the name, the one I said is the one you've found :D

 

it's not meant to be a configuration guide for the end user but for the bios maker, so they tell some tips and quirks about calculations to be done to get the timings right.

 

It's a very long doc but if you look for the "DRAM Configuration" section, that one isn't too long and talks about what I said :D

 

The other stuff is juicy info, too, but not so directly related to dram parameter programming
