[Resolved] The Best News Ever!!(dfi ultra-d wont boot)

Recommended Posts

i know u are kinda going crazy to hear the news well here it goes:

ATENTION ANOTHER DFI ULTRA-D DOESNT BOOT WHEN DYI-ROOKIE TRIES TO BUILD HIS OWN GAMING RIG.

ok i hope u dont take this lame joke so bad, im really sorry if u are way beyond desappointment , but in other news....

so yeah i have the common symptoms, the "stand by" led is on and yellow, the diagnostic leds are all 4 of them on and red, fans are all working.

So PCIE video card is plugged to the 6pin connector, 24 pin is where it belongs so is the 4 pin. only one ram stick is installed and its on slot 2 (orange) . I cleared the cmos, with the jumper and even removed the battery for 5 minutes as adviced on another forum(overclock.co.uk) the case speaker is plugged in and the mobo speaker jumper are set on. I didnt plug in anything else, not even the karajan audio., which i plan not to plug.

that was 1st try....

second round....plugged in the hdd and fdd connectors, also connected the usb and fire wire of the case to the mobo. Also putted the cmos jumper on default mode, and yet the same result no nothing :(. I dont know why but there's a dark voice in my head that says karajan.....karajan.... and so on.....

note-->even though i plugged in the fdd and hdd power connectors the drives are not plugged to the mobo, only cpu, 1 ram stick and video card are on the mobo.

oh and i noticed that the front panel connectors diagram in the manual is not the same as the connectors in the mobo in the manual, in the mobo the upper row(when ram sticks are at the top of the board) is complete, but in the manual, #11 and #1 missing .

so thats all i have to say.

Hello,

The board requires 4 power connectors,

24pin ATX

4pin +12v

a hard drive molex power connector

and a floppy drive connector.

Did you plug all 4 power connectors into the board?

If all four LEDs stay lit, the board is not detecting the CPU, The problems can be narrowed down to:

1. Power supply

2. Power supply connections to motherboard

3. CPU

I don't think that power supply has 24 pins, does it? If not, that is probably the problem.

If it does have 24 pin, then recheck power supply connections to board (all four!)

Then try to reseat your CPU.

man that was fast , i mean like super fast wow LOL. free shipping ? YAY lol...but i dont live in the usa , but i can arrange something , i live in the island of santo domingo, in the east part(dominican republic, we share the island with haiti), so yeah the island is in middle of cuba and puerto rico, thats just for the nourishment of your minds :P

well anyway, wow shipping it to you, that means my problem is more than the wrong connection of power plugs,etc..... and is this like free tech support or do i have to pay u? i didnt get that part very well

by far man u are the coolest person i have ever read a reply from in my life :P

note--> Faroffistan? where is that?

if you live in USA, send me email (link in my sig) and Ill have you send me the board, memory, cpu and I will get it working and ship it back to you.

we'll pay for shipping also.

Whoa, is this SOP (standard operating procedure)? If so, DFI will put Asus, MSI, and Gigabyte out of business. And I am only talking from personal experience, cant say for other manufactuers not mentioned.

I am impressed with this company, and products.

hrmmm...Santo Domingo eh...not sure how much shipping would be to and from there...

if you read the Rules/Announcements and the Critical Sticky thread stuck to the top, you'd see that I work for DFI ;)

you already paid me by purchasing one of our boards. It is my job to get your hardware working.

Faroffistan = left of Cantundistan (but we are not socialists, we are low-grade anarchists)

let me check with shipping and see how much it will cost...outside of the USA makes that a little tough for me.

btw, this is NOT standard procedure.

but

I am not a standard tech support monkey

I was hired by DFI to do the things you see in this forum

ie: above and beyond what any tech support has done for customers in the past

we make the best overclocking boards in the world. Period.

but

they are not for beginners, and even experienced users have had their share of troubles. Once you spend some time and learn whats up and how they work...they are your best bro (sometimes your gf? for those of you that dont get outside much)

if i see a customer that has tried just about everything, and cannot get it to function, I offer to take a look at the board/memory/cpu myself to see what I see with it. Out of about 20 NF4's sent to me so far, 100% of them have found their way back to the customer in perfect working condition.

I don't have a clue how they are holding up, as once the customer gets them back, I seem to never hear from him again (i take that as it works and they are too busy gaming or downloading porno or whatever to be bothered to come and tell everyone how great the board is performing now)

do as suggested and check your psu. If it is not a true 24-pin power connection, you will need to get a 24-pin psu like the OCZ Powerstream, Fortron BlueStorm, Enermax etc.

Do not listen to anyone that says you do not need a true 24-pin psu. They do not work for DFI and their results are their own and do NOT reflect the majority of customers that have a problem. Their insistence that you do not need a 24-pin psu compounds the problem.

make sure you have all the power connections plugged in. Check Ed Jacobson's guide on initial setup for the NF4. Do minimal setup (cpu/memory/vid card only, outside of the case)

let me know if you have tried all of this with no success.

your german computer dealer needs to wake up to reality and realize that until he makes the board or works for the mfg then he has no business telling people the exact opposite of what DFI engineers tell you, which is exactly what is in this post in the sticky:

PSU Requirements:

http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showpost.p...75&postcount=13

if you do not follow this, you do so at your own peril
