Please help w/ Lanparty UT NF3 250gb

Recommended Posts

Please help me with this, as I am new to this board.

1) Is it ok to use sata 1 & 2 when oc'ng? I know on some skt 939 boards, you must use sata 3 & 4 otherwise you risk data corruption if you oc.

2) The mobo and ram led lights are "red". I'm used to "green" led to signal all is ok, and red signals a problem. I'm assuming the led is red and that all is ok, is this right?

3) Is there a way to enable the chasis fan to stay on all the time? Right now, with shipping bios, it sets that fan to be off if system temp is less than 25c. It is running around 20c or so, so it doesn't come on. At first I thought I had a bad connection, but after seeing the bios, obviously it won't get power if sys temp is less than 25c. Any work arounds for this? Maybe another bios?

Thanks guys for the help, greatly appreciated!!:)

1.You should use sata 3&4 if you want to go over 240 fsb.

2. Yes the leds are red, no prob.

3. use 4 pin molex connectors for your fans with only yellow wire to mobo to monitor rpm. Less draw on the mobo.

Or you should be able to change temps, or disable that setting in bios.

You must use SATA 3-4 above the AGP slot if you OC. SATA 1-2 won't work over 240. The red LEDs are normal. As far as the chassis fan, I would just use a 3 pin to 4 pin Molex adapter and run it off the PSU.

Edit: Ah I type too slow. Beat me to it.

1. SATA3/4 above 240FSB

939 DFI boards are able to easily do 240+ on any NV SATA port (i'm on SATA1 @ 310*8)

2. Red is just the color. When it is on, means you are getting power. the 4 diagnostic LED's on our boards are red also. It's just a color ;)

Its a chipset issue with most nf3 mobo's.. your fine at 230.. but once you get to 240 and above there will post likely be problems..

Yes you should switch it if you plan on going to 240 and above..

The way I understood it was that SATA ports 1 and 2 are not clock locked, while SATA 3 and 4 are.. so as you up the FSB ports 1 and 2 are affected, while 3 and 4 are not. Thus if you have your harddrives plugged into sata 1 & 2 and oc beyond 240fsb, then you could have corrupted data!

I have read that on the MSI Neo4 Diamond, that 1 & 2 are locked and 3 & 4 are not. I wonder if that is the case on all nf4 boards.

possibly, but not an issue on our NF4 boards at all.
