friedchicken Posted February 8, 2008 Posted February 8, 2008 (edited) i've had this problem with the ga-p35-ds3l and sad to say i could not fix it but i've figured out the problem. It might be the bios because even when not oc, if the FSB is enabled, the board fail to post. I bought another p35-ds3l to confirmed and it was the same problem. So i suggest you get a different board or just wait for a newer bios release that may or may not fix the problem. Edit: I was on the F7 bios and upgraded to F8a bios, no avail. roadske Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 I've decided to RMA it, and get a board that works. I really built this rig to overclock it, and its really sad to have it sitting here with all this potential and not being able to do anything to it. Thanks for all your help! roadske Posted February 10, 2008 Posted February 10, 2008 I've been looking at a new MB over the weekend, and was just about to order on newegg, when I decided to go check out Gigabyte's site to see if any updates had hit. Sure enough a new bios update had been posted for the GA-p35-S3G...Version f3a (Beta). I went ahead and updated my bios - afterall...whats the worst that could happen? To my surprise, OC'ing is 100% stable. I've been playing around with it a bit so far but nowhere near done yet. I just wanted to post and let everyone know that this board is now a very nice solution for a new E8400. Overclock so far. road-runner Posted February 10, 2008 Posted February 10, 2008 Glad to hear you got it working. I am sure there are probably updated bios either out or in the process of being made available for all motherboard manufacturers for the new 45nm chips.... kingdingeling Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 You can run any graphics card with any chipset, you just won't be able to use the SLI/CrossFire upgrading possibilities that NVIDIA/ATI respectively offer
