So...I've got the DVD's...why the hell am I downloading ....

 

Is Valve just giving the DVD's to dick around with me?

It should install straight from the DVD, then ask you to sign into steam or something to install updates.

Hmm, it seems if I go one game at a time, it installs from the disks, I'll try that.

The only thing it should have to download are the updates since release. Steam has awesome transfer rates though (at least for me).

I got it to work by installing the games I wanted one at a time.

Odd, I just installed Orange Box a couple days ago and all the games installed off the DVD's all at once just fine. Did you start the install using steam or something?

Yeah, same thing here...installed them all at the same time and no issues other than downloading the updates which only took about 20 min for them all.

It'd definately be updates, provided you installed them correctly (from the DVDs themselves).
