GlimmerMan Posted December 8, 2007 Posted December 8, 2007 Well I was trying to get my two HP SCSI 10K RPM drives to work with an old SCSI RAID card I got from work (wanted RAID 0). Unfortunately upon starting my PC with this card installed, the "smell of death" came out of my beloved PC. Quickly ripping the power cord out and inspecting the damage, the RAID card fried and took my board with it. Now I just came back from schoolies (thus spending a lot), and I need to buy my car in a few weeks + pay for driving lessons. So i'm pretty screwed financially at the moment. So: A new, cheap but semi-powerful PC is required (I still want to game). All I need is a board, CPU and RAM. This is what I'm thinking: CPU: E6550 (for some reason they are cheaper than e6320's) Board: NFI - need your help (must be 1333, support 4GB + min of 3 PCI slots) RAM: 2GB DDR2 800 - some generic stuff (found some for $26 ea) So. I pretty much need a board that is pretty dam cheap and good value. I also want it to last a bit as my next upgrade won't be for a long time. What do you guys recommend?? I've done some googling and comparisons on newegg but can't really decide what to get. Thanks for your help fellas.

Thats a good board also, it just does not have solid state capacitors is the only difference (pci slots).
GlimmerMan Posted December 8, 2007 Posted December 8, 2007 Oh but it does "All solid capacitors design. "
road-runner Posted December 8, 2007 Posted December 8, 2007 Oh but it does "All solid capacitors design. " Ok they changed it, the DS3L used to not have the solid caps. I have several Gigabyte boards, they are great boards....
