cenjeff8j Posted May 4, 2007 Posted May 4, 2007 I have a Toshiba satellite A130-st1311 and have been locked out of my bios I have no warranty so am not worried about that. I need to get in immediately and can do the work my self so I am not willing on paying someone. I need to know how to reset the bios I have looked on google and cannot find a way and of course Toshiba is no help at all. Do you know where it might be I dont know how to get to it im looking for images of the motherboard online but no such luck. Does anyone know how to get to the battery? Andrewr05 Posted May 5, 2007 Posted May 5, 2007 Unfortunately I had this same problem with an older Toshiba Sattelite, I found out that they have the password stored on a safety chip on the motherboard. On mine the password screen came up right when you turned on the computer, the memory check and bios information never came up it just went directly to the password prompt, is your like that? I even had the laptop completely dismantled, took all "3" batteries out and didn't find any jumpers or contacts on the motheboard where you place a screw driver either... Does your laptop have a parallel port? if so you can use a loop back connector to clear the Bios/Cmos. Also there is a set of headers on the motherboard that you can short to get the Bios to clear as well, i would not reccomened removing the battery as most of the time they do not go back in. I can pull the tech sheets for you if you like from the Toshiba site to give you the exact location if the loop back connector does not work. It does on most laptops so it is not to bad, and the Cmos clear headers are the little ones with no pins so you have to use a screw driver or soemthing.
