From what I have gathered if you are going to be doing some serious overclocking or any overclocking on the board it would be a great one to get because of the many options in the bios that you are able to change. I have also heard that they have given many people problems when they first start building their rigs. Also I believe that those boards are very picky when it comes to the hardware you put in them, they need some top of the line equpment.

I have been debating about getting one myself, but i think im going to end up getting an Asus MVP

you could also try a foxconn

<-----EDIT----->

You beat me to the post sdy, i was still typing when you posted yours...but sdy is correct if you are not going to do any overclocking, it would be very pointless to get a DFI board

Im guessing that you are wanting SLI and not crossfire correct? anything else special about the board?

Check out Newegg, thats where I buy all of my hardware and they have good deals, also look at their combos. The combos can be pretty good deals and its a good way to get more for your money...

those can be located here...

Here are some DFI boards with a cpu for a little over $300

Now that's not exactly what Sdy is saying here, he is merely stating that it might be overkill but definitely not pointless. Look at it this way.........if the DFI board holds up well to the added strain of overclocking then it would certainly hold up well at stock speeds. DFI makes a quality product and if he can get it for a good price I see absolutely no reason to purchase something else.

if you can get it really cheap, like only slightly more than, or even the same price as, a regular 939 board, then by all means get it... i firmly believe it is the best (or joint best with the SLI-DR) 939 board ever made...

there is an insane amount of info about the board should you choose to overclock, and of course, it functions perfectly when not overclocked... so i think the deciding factor is price really :)

ps. i LOVE my ultra-d... it has oc'd 5 cpu's amazingly... i could kiss it :D

SLI is for Nvidia based cards and Crossfire is for ATI based cards

If you have the time to learn how to overclock (not that hard, just time consuming) you should defently start...

do you have a custom built pc right now or is it a dell or a gateway or something along those lines?

Read these pinned threads in the overclocking section to begin your overclocking learning...

Once you have read those threads, you should know basically what it is, how to do it, what the settings you need to change are, etc. and you then can start to do it...

Have you given Folding a try yet? click the link in my sig to find out more about that, its fun and good for science research

I have the board you're looking at and I'm telling you that once I got it setup, it was just a dream. Initially had a 3200 in it and now it's holding a FX-55 running at a cool 2.8GHz.

DFI boards can be rather picky. Some people have nightmare experiences while for others everything goes smooth as silk. I got a DOA board when I first ordered it, but when I got the replacement, I just stuck everything in and was up and running within an hour or so.

It's great even for the type who doesn't like tweaking their system. The board runs really stable and offers a ton of BIOS options when you finally feel confident enough to dabble a bit in overclocking. Remember to take things slow as getting too excited WILL fry your components.

Is DFI any good? YES!!! I have a skt754 and a 939 LanParty, and they are the best boards I've ever used. They overclock my AMD's like a dream (3700+ SD @ 2.9 only being stopped by temps). If you are going to OC a 939, go for it.
