Kamikaze_Badger Posted August 8, 2005 Posted August 8, 2005 So, what do you think? Will dual core processors or SMP systems become mainstream for non-workstation/server systems within the next 10 years?

Kash Posted August 8, 2005 Posted August 8, 2005 The argument is moot. 10 years is a LONG time technology-wise. Look at where we were 10 years ago. 486s and Pentium 1s running barely 100MHz. CD-ROMS were just introduced. Looking at how fast technology is progressing now, who knows what we'll be looking at in 10 years. Oh, and I want some of that pie..... sykocus Posted August 8, 2005 Posted August 8, 2005 10 years? i could imagine the way computer chips are designed and built being totally different from anything today. 10 years ago what were the home computers being built? I remember my parents getting a pent 75mhz with a passive heatsink on it, so yah, a lot happens in 10 years.

LoArmistead Posted August 8, 2005 Posted August 8, 2005 in 10 years we wll have VR headsets that we strap on to play Battlefield 9. And through the visor we see a real-life looking battlefield. And when we "think" about shooting the gun, it iwll fire.
flareback Posted August 8, 2005 Posted August 8, 2005 they'll become mainstream and then the next big thing will come along before 10 years from now.
