romeo55 Posted July 27, 2005 Posted July 27, 2005 This is funny... I blow $370 on my new x800 XTPE thinking that i can run Bf2 at High instead of low-Med on my old 9600 pro. Turns out that BF2 uses 2 Gigs+ for high and i'm stuck at med again... This sucks Ok look at my sig for specs and could you give me some advice on what mem to look for? I was thinking 2x1gb dimms. I don't OC and i really don't care about latencies(from what i've seen the differences are minimal). LoL, I remember people saying 1gb was enough.... Now 2gbs... 10 kbs of ram is all we'll ever need ^Bill gates said that....

CoolMaster Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 2 gigs seems kinda excessive, I think one gig of high speed ram would make it run quite fine
spazmire11 Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 i have a gig of ram with x800xt and it runs great a643000+
namakan Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 (edited) Yeah..sucks that you have 4x sticks already, the best would be use those in other systems or sell em' and grab 2x 1gb of some corsair value. Edit: coolmaster, bf2 uses WAY more than a gig. Edited July 28, 2005 by namakan

That is running everything on high at 1600x1200 with a barton 2500+ and a 6800 Ultra with 1 gig of value ram. Smooth as silk. Not sure what your problem is. Guest Silenc3 Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 (edited) 2.4 @ 4ghz, x800 pro 235/1.3, 1 gig ram = High Settings (4af/2aa) @ 1280x960 That being a stable 60-70fps. Lowest it drops is 50fps. err I meant 535 on the gpu core. Edited July 28, 2005 by Silenc3
oralpain Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 Two gigs of 3-4-4-8 memory will run BF2 noticeably better than one gig of 2-2-2-5 memory. You can get by just fine (a rare stutter) with one gig and BF2 at high settings, if you have properly trimmed your startup programs/services and have nothing else running. Aeromun Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 sounds a little picky on detail..if you ask me..1gb should be fine
Bosco Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 Sounds like something is acting up to me, I would try 512mb first and get away from the 4 sticks and see if that will fix it. I am gathering that you have updated drivers and such
Blue_cow Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 512 works fine for me (low settings though. Check sig.)
