CoolMaster Posted May 8, 2005 Posted May 8, 2005 Question, is it really worth it , to upgrade to LGA 775? i have socket 478 right now? should I wait or what?
martymcfly Posted May 8, 2005 Posted May 8, 2005 id say wait. s478 is good because you can still buy northwoods. Also, the current 775 mobos will not take dual procs, so at least wait for 955 chipset. Also, you may even consider a switch to AMD if you have to buy a new proc and mobo anyway. Guest Silenc3 Posted May 8, 2005 Posted May 8, 2005 (edited) 775 doesnt have much to offer that gains you anything, just ruins your mobo after 10 cpu switches. and marty, thats just madness. edit* your sig that is Edited May 8, 2005 by Silenc3

bigred Posted May 8, 2005 Posted May 8, 2005 ah when will 939 be like mainstream? 474373[/snapback] ???????? it has been for a long time. 754 is dying. 940 is server and 462/A is long since dead.
Kash Posted May 8, 2005 Posted May 8, 2005 The only place you'll see 754 "mainstream" is on retail computers. Most people who build their own computers stick with 939 since 754 has been designated the "value" socket with the Sempron line. caffeinejunkie Posted May 8, 2005 Posted May 8, 2005 don't knock the 754s I mean getting a 700mhz overclock out of a newcastle 754 2800 is pretty good. The only downside to 754 is the no dual channel.
