Cant Install Cod

When i tried to install call of duty, i tried to play it and it said 2 missing sound files, so i uninstalled and tried to reinstall. Now when i put in the call of duty disc, the only options are to either play single, multiplayer or uninstall, and i cant do any of these because i have no files from the program on my computer- and there is no "install" option. Can anyone help me?

# Make sure that you meet the minimum system requirements.

# Make sure you have the latest video and sound card drivers from the manufacturers' websites.

# Set your desktop to a resolution of 800x600, 32 bit True Color.

1) Right-click on your desktop and select Properties.

2) Click the Settings tab.

3) Set your screen area to 800x600.

4) Set the colors to 32 Bit (True Color). Under Windows NT this will be listed as 65554 colors.

5) Click Apply and OK.

# All background applications must be shutdown prior to running the game.

# Copy the PAK files from disc 2 to your PC.

1) Place Call of Duty disc 2 in the CD-ROM drive.

2) Open My Computer.

3) Right-click on the Call of Duty CD and select Open.

4) Open the Setup folder on the CD.

5) Open My Computer again.

6) Open the Call of Duty folder on your hard drive, C:\Program Files\Call of Duty.

7) Copy the MAIN folder from the CD-ROM drive into the Call of Duty folder.

8) If prompted to overwrite files, do so.

Additionally, this error can sometimes be resolved by simply re-booting your system.

are the steps to reduce resolution necessary? i have a very good setup, radeon 9800 xt, gig of ram, stuff like that, and plenty of h ard drive space (on drive D anyways)

i will try it right now though, thank you very much.

when i tried to do this it said "cannot copy pak1, invalid MS-DOS function"

i tried to isntall again by opening the setup on disc 1, and installed, and it still said 2 sound files are missing or in a bad format. :( I have tried rebooting, it doesnt work :(

Well if your disks are scratched and Activision is as crappy as EA about it then i say DL ISOs and just use your key. Should work just fine, Ive done this for a few games that have been scratchedup over the years and never had any issues. If you ahve problems finding them IM me on AIM tonight. I can't post here about such things (links to DL options), heck not really supposed to say to DL the ISOs , but obviously you have the game so you need to be able to play it :D I would start by e-mailing activision to see what their opinion is and se if they offer a free disk replacement.
