E Fudd Posted July 10, 2005 Posted July 10, 2005 Well lets see the 100% democratic congress ran deficits since 1968 till 1994 LBJ sold us the Great Society (a mixture of socialism and vote buying). We pay 50% effective tax rate overall and still they spend more. We have Social Security knocking on our door (those NOTES will be coming due real soon) medicare and Medicaid make the SS problem look like a fart in a whirl wind. Oh yea we spend billions on the military and we can't field 150,000 troops without calling up the reserves ( thats a football stadium and a half). I'm a Republican but all and all their not much better. Now we have 60 dollar oil and China. We can't drill off our coast because it might mess up the view of some ones condo much less build refineries. Things are really looking up - but hay Im upbeat Im sure we will grow our way out of this

martymcfly Posted July 13, 2005 Posted July 13, 2005 this is waht every SINGLE political debate comes to. people get their opinions by considering themselves under the umbrella of a party or by labeling themselves as liberal or conservative. They do this to others as well. e.g.: ------------------------------ <1>I am a liberal, therefore I believe... <1>You already said you were a republican, so that automatically means that you believe F, but you said F^-1, so now you are just being hippocritical. ------------------------------ You cannot put yourself and others under these labels. From the first post, this has been an attack. The title even assumes that by calling yourself a democrat, there is a built-in ideology you are automatically a part of. I will add more later.
