Ronin Posted January 7, 2003 Posted January 7, 2003 Id say no. They get about the same performance.
TiM Posted January 7, 2003 Posted January 7, 2003 I think 7+ is better - it got copper heatsink and 6000rpm's in place of 4800 at 9.
alechko88 Posted January 7, 2003 Posted January 7, 2003 tim. fforget the rpm.. thats the fan i can replace the fan any time i want. im talkin about the heatsink.
d3bruts1d Posted January 7, 2003 Posted January 7, 2003 I'd get a swiftech.
Ronin Posted January 7, 2003 Posted January 7, 2003 I think all copper hsf's are better but, copper is better at taking the heat out of somthing while aluminum is better at disapting it. Â Forget rpm's, CFM is all that matters, my friends fan is 7200 rpm's and it get about half the cooling of my 4800 rpm Smart Case fan 2. Â If you want to spend a bucket of cash on an hsf then get a SLK-
xpandapuss Posted January 8, 2003 Posted January 8, 2003 I'd stay with the 7+.....
ATI Radeon 8500 Posted January 8, 2003 Posted January 8, 2003 Yeah the SLK-800 is sooooo nice. Same wit hthe Swiftech MCX4000s. But then again they aren't in same league as a Volcano.
mikeock Posted January 8, 2003 Posted January 8, 2003 i fuxxored my old mobo installinga swiftech and now have picked up a vantec thermal flow heatsink sitting at 1815 with 41c as the temp
ATI Radeon 8500 Posted January 8, 2003 Posted January 8, 2003 Heh why cuz they are so heavy? Yeah my fear of the copper beasts is that one cracks my mobo in half and then goes crashing through my PCI slots. That wouldn't be fun
Ronin Posted January 8, 2003 Posted January 8, 2003 lol, that'd be really funny to see!
ATI Radeon 8500 Posted January 8, 2003 Posted January 8, 2003 Yeah it would but that would have to happen to a friend...I actually meant to post my friend's art on here once...After a LAN party (he is a nub) he is jamming his vga cord into vid card...SO he screws pins and destrys his vid card. So he's trying to fix his vga cord with a large Philips head screwdriver nad is jamming it dow nthe connector. He lost a few pins and they were bent in every possible direction. I was laughing so hard whe nI saw it wanted to have my digicam.
