ill_industries Posted February 21, 2005 Posted February 21, 2005 ok, if im running a P4 with 400 fsb.... do i need pc 1600 or pc 2100?
nVidia_Freak Posted February 21, 2005 Posted February 21, 2005 Well, I've got a 2.6c, and I have PC2700, but it's read as PC2100, probrably the mobo though. It really depends on your motherboard, if the mobo supports the speed you need/want, then you can use it. With a 400FSB you should be able to go up to PC3200. Unless you oc, in which case you could go even higher. So unless you're really on a tight budget, try to at least go for PC2700. mikey390 Posted February 21, 2005 Posted February 21, 2005 ok, if im running a P4 with 400 fsb....do i need pc 1600 or pc 2100? 423629[/snapback] pc 1600 = DDR200 = 100MHz pc 2100 = DDR266 = 133MHz 100MHz * 4(quad pumped) = 400 fsb either one will work, it will just underclock pc 2100 if you get it. i would get the pc 2100. ill_industries Posted February 22, 2005 Posted February 22, 2005 if it will underclock the pc2100, then whats the point of spending the extra cash for it?
swifty11212 Posted February 22, 2005 Posted February 22, 2005 i would spend the extra cash so it can support a overall massive overclock. my corsairs in sig run at ddr400 and hit the wall slightly after ddr500 speed. i need to get ddr500 or better so i can hit 2.7ghz. ill_industries Posted February 23, 2005 Posted February 23, 2005 but if i dont plan on overclocking is it still worth it? am i better off just getting 2100 for better reliability? or will it matter? the only reason i ask is that there is almost a $50 difference
