Verran Posted February 2, 2005 Posted February 2, 2005 Well, I ordered 2x512 PDP XBL 2-2-2-5 to replace my 2x512 CorsairVS 2.5-3-3-7, and it showed up today. As I was replacing the Corsair, I figured I would load them both and do some benching just for comparison (PDP in channel 1+2, CorsairVS in 3+4, kept timings at 2.5-3-3-7 at 200mhz). So with 2gb loaded up, I scored worse on all three tests in my sig. Granted, I really broke even since they were all well within a tight margin of error, but still. Do none of these tests take advantage of 2gb? I guess that makes it easier to go back to 1gb and start OCin the crap out of my proc, but it's just kind of weird to double your RAM and see no improvement.... DECwakeboarder Posted February 2, 2005 Posted February 2, 2005 Running 4 sticks will cut your bandwidth, I don't know this for a fact, but I heard it from someone else on here or VO.
tbone2sk Posted February 2, 2005 Posted February 2, 2005 Ya there is no point to run 2 gigs for benching.

Verran Posted February 2, 2005 Posted February 2, 2005 Yeah, I used the 4x512 setup in World of Warcrack for a few hours tonight and it was a -little- bit better, but usage never went over 1200ish megs, so it's not overly helpful there either. So now that I've got a feel for what 4x512 will do for me, it's time to go to just the XBLs and start OCing. Even just going from 200 @ 2.5-3-3-7-2T to 200 @ 2-2-2-5-1T made a noticable difference in 3DMark03 and Aquamark3, very minor in 3DMark05. Now it's time to go to 210 and start climbing by 5's from there.....
