BROWNjello109 Posted September 29, 2004 Posted September 29, 2004 I don't know if I would say it is stock because there is a 1/2 inch copper heat sink along with the aluminum over it. Well, I picked one of those babies up at the computer show on sunday for 5 bucks and I thought it would run silently due to the fact that it is "stock." I strapped it on, plugged it in, and BAM! Instead of being silent, the thing ran louder than before! It does help my temperature by 6 degrees, but still! I dont want an airplane in my room. So my question is, is this normal for "stock" Cpu hsf? I might as well throw the old one back in and strap on an exhaust instead. I have an Antec SLK1600, and the metal is pretty nice and thick. I dont know... thanks

tazwegion Posted September 29, 2004 Posted September 29, 2004 Change the fan on it with a lower RPM unit, OR add a fan rheobus/controller to reduce the RPM's of the unit fitted

worker Posted September 30, 2004 Posted September 30, 2004 Maybe a good stock cooling fan. Or it has a high RPM.
