Xiode Posted July 5, 2004 Posted July 5, 2004 I'm currently bidding on some BH-5 on Ebay.... but then I got to wondering, which is better? BH-5 or the new Samsung chip that comes with the Corsair PC3200XLPro? Also, on AMD setups (Mobile 2600+), what would it be best to run the divider at? ccokeman Posted July 5, 2004 Posted July 5, 2004 bh-5 would be best and running your memory 1:1 would be best with your timings at 11-2-2-
Nerm Posted July 5, 2004 Posted July 5, 2004 I prefer samsung.
Xiode Posted July 5, 2004 Posted July 5, 2004 Well, I'm trying to hit the higher FSB's with the absolute tighest timings, so would the BH-5 be the RAM for the job? I'm going to be running it on a DFI NFII Infinity with a 2600+ Mobile, and I'm hoping I can hit 2.5GHz - 2.6Ghz while keeping the tightest timings I can. Shadowfactor Posted July 5, 2004 Posted July 5, 2004 go bh-5 , it's alot better for overclocking and tight timings
Xiode Posted July 5, 2004 Posted July 5, 2004 Would I be able to hit high FSB with PC3200, or would I need to get PC3500? I'll be running it in dual channel with x2 sticks of 512MB.
Agallion Posted July 5, 2004 Posted July 5, 2004 how do you know its really bh-5?
Xiode Posted July 5, 2004 Posted July 5, 2004 Because there's pictures with the "Winbond BH-5" stamps on the memory.

Xiode Posted July 5, 2004 Posted July 5, 2004 Alright, thanks! Also, would I have any bottlenecks in this system? 2600+ Mobile @ 2.5Ghz+ (I'm hoping) DFI NFII Infinity Mushkin (2x512) PC3200-PC3500 Level II (BH-5) Sapphire Radeon 9800 Pro OC'ed (420/700 or so I'm hoping) Antec Purepower 420w PSU Seagate Barracuda 120GB ATA/100 (upgrading to dual Raptors in RAID 0 later) I'm hoping to run FarCry and UT2K4 with maxed settings. I know I probably won't be able to get FarCry maxed, but I'm hoping to get above-average on the settings with flawless gameplay. Would I have any bottlenecks with this system? Agallion Posted July 5, 2004 Posted July 5, 2004 youll always have bottlenecks...but not really so get teh bh-5 pc3500 and ull be golden
Split423 Posted July 5, 2004 Posted July 5, 2004 well if u want to hit that speed with that proc you'll need more power. a 480w psu or more would probably do the job. i have a 420w and a mobile 2000+ and the voltage is lower than its set at because it isnt powerful enough foir the overclock i have.
