dling Posted July 1, 2017 Posted July 1, 2017 Does it make any difference how I get to the oc speed I want. Is overclocking the cpu vs increasing the bckl any different ? I seem to remember that it's better to get the overclock by raising the cpu speed.
ir_cow Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 Until Skylake / Kaby Lake came around the only real way to OC since the Core 2 days was to use the multiplier. The BLCK has to stay within 5mhz of 105 because of how its integrated into the CPU. xenkw0n Posted July 3, 2017 Posted July 3, 2017 You mean since Sandy-bridge. I was not aware 6th and 7th gen chips allowed for BCLK overclocking again. X58 BCLK overclocking was great. ~215 bclk overclocks on good boards was pretty common. I can push mine to 210 without issue.
