Crow47 Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 In the order you asked: A) Maybe B) Yes C) No I owned two 780's a couple years ago (first just one, then a second for SLI), and I was fairly exasperated with how quickly they became obsolete from a high-performance perspective. For me, the 3GB VRAM was absolutely crippling as soon as a game started to exceed that. If you don't care about textures, then you can probably get away with the 780. I have a Strix 1070 now, though, and I'm very happy with it. You have a 4K TV, if you have the itch to upgrade, you may as well get a new GPU and get the most out of your setup. Your i5 is perfectly sufficient for powering a 1070, even a 1080, even SLI of both.
Fight Game Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 You are really the best person to answer these questions! Because it depends on what games you are playing and if, in your own opinion, they are lagging or not. That cpu should not bottleneck though. ir_cow Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 Also to answer your questions in order A) Depends on what your looking for settings wise and FPS. More VRAM will allow for high resolution textures. 3GB is getting close to the minimum for 2017 games on ultra settings. B) It will double you FPS. I went from a 780 Ti overclocked and saw double the FPS in games I play like BF4. C: Doubtful. The impact may be 1-3FPS on some games. potatochobit Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 well, you didnt say why you want to upgrade your GPU? 780 is fine, but it is outdated. and new AMD graphic cards are coming out some time between april-june. now is a bad time to upgrade. I would wait till the summer and get a 200$ graphic card which will give you a noticeable boost in power.

xenkw0n Posted February 12, 2017 Posted February 12, 2017 Yea I would definitely wait. For 1080p I would just tweak the settings a bit in some games if you aren't getting consistent 60+ fps. The next round of graphics cards from AMD and NVidia should start sporting HBM2 memory from what I hear and that should help provide massive boosts for a number of reasons.
