potatochobit Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 anyone using something simple? I just need to duplicate contents in a single folder, not necessarily a whole drive with the same capacity and being able to remove an individual drive and be able to access the contents in any windows PC is appealing anyone doing this or is this not popular yet? El_Capitan Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 Why would you need to remove drive's for? Why not get a USB flash drive for this purpose?
WhenKittensATK Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 You can use SyncToy http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=15155
potatochobit Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 (edited) oh sorry I meant when the drive fails to remove it not on a daily basis Mirror seems to be like raid but able to use any hard drive instead of very similar spec ones I will look at the sync toy thanx edit: here is the video so for example let's say you had a 256GB and a 512GB you can mirror the two SSDs to duplicate the data but a storage pool would also allow you to use the extra space on the 512gb to create another volume of free storage or say, SSD prices drop and you buy a 1TB, you can mirror that to you 256GB and keep all you pictures of grandma Edited December 7, 2014 by potatochobit
El_Capitan Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 I see what you mean. There's plenty of software that can do what you want. I'm old school, and just write my own scripts to do this.

Basically yes. I use a Port multiplier to do this. I have it hooked to my server and it is used to back up the server. I can pull any of the drives and they work slaved into any PC or enclosure....
