Ubuntu on Live USB

N.E.A

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, I made a live USB for ubuntu 12.04 and it works fine, the thing I'm asking for is how to make it save settings and programs installed on the USB ?!
I made a 4GB persistence using Universal USB installer. Another thing, if that does not work, how to convert a partition from dynamic to basic without losing any data at least from the other partitions. Its a 1.5 TB HD and I've set it up to 4 partitions all of them are dynamic, I just want one of them to be basic to be able to install ubuntu on it.

I've searched for solutions for these problems but I ended up with a dead end.

Note : I'm new to linux. :)

Its been a while since I logged in OCC, and boy does it look better than ever :D

Then how do I convert a dynamic partition to a basic partition to be able to install it?
But I don't want the data on the other partitions to be lost though.

Are you sure that it wont remove any data when I convert the partition to "Basic"?!

Unfortunately you can never really be sure with these things and if you can, you better back it up. Below is a tutorial on how to do it w/ out data loss.

or you can use Testdisk (tutorials available on site)

Good luck

you can try this
put ubuntu onto a disk and go to start up disk creater or whatnot

use that to install it onto your usb, that way you wont *need* persistence because that usb just became your harddrive. Thats what i did for my SD card and i dont have a persistence :P
