daniel Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 Hi, My current PC got damaged during transportation (CPU killed, and motherboard clips broken) and I am looking to make it run again. My previous specs were the following - EVGA GeForce GTX 280 1GB PCI Express 2.0 x16 - PC Power and Cooling S61EPS 610W Continuous @
EuroFight Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 (edited) It really depends what you use your rig for, but moving from a Core 2 Duo to an i5 will make your new rig seem insanely fast, definitely a worthwhile upgrade from your previous specs, although I doubt you will need 16GB of RAM, and you could probably use the cash you save from cutting back and getting 8GB to upgrade the GPU a bit (or SLI perhaps) Edited November 9, 2012 by EuroFight
Black64 Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 With the price of ram now, just as much as you want. Builds looks solid.
IVIYTH0S Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 Do you not plan on ever overclocking or just not right now?? If not, why get the K version
vandreadstriker Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 Do you not plan on ever overclocking or just not right now?? If not, why get the K version And a Z77 board? If you don't plan on overclocking, you can just get something like the i5 3450S and an ASRock H77 MB.

I was doing the 3570k because for 20 dollars I dont ming the .3 ghz extra, and i chose the k, just in case the video card also has issues, this one has the intel graphics 4000 in comparison to the others. I have not been able to test if the video card survived the shipment.
vandreadstriker Posted November 12, 2012 Posted November 12, 2012 Umm... I don't think the HD4000 graphics would do you any good in terms of performance.. If it's about just having a backup until you get a new card, the 2500 would still suffice.
