System upgrade

Hi,

My current PC got damaged during transportation (CPU killed, and motherboard clips broken) and I am looking to make it run again.

My previous specs were the following

- EVGA GeForce GTX 280 1GB PCI Express 2.0 x16

- PC Power and Cooling S61EPS 610W Continuous @ 40

It really depends what you use your rig for, but moving from a Core 2 Duo to an i5 will make your new rig seem insanely fast, definitely a worthwhile upgrade from your previous specs, although I doubt you will need 16GB of RAM, and you could probably use the cash you save from cutting back and getting 8GB to upgrade the GPU a bit (or SLI perhaps)

:withstupid:

And a Z77 board?

If you don't plan on overclocking, you can just get something like the i5 3450S and an ASRock H77 MB.

I was doing the 3570k because for 20 dollars I dont ming the .3 ghz extra, and i chose the k, just in case the video card also has issues, this one has the intel graphics 4000 in comparison to the others. I have not been able to test if the video card survived the shipment.
