BeatRyder Posted February 17, 2004 Posted February 17, 2004 And it all depends on what kind of RAM you have weather or not you can use it again. If you have p133, and you get a new board that uses PC2100, then NO unless you get a mnob that has both kinds of slots, then you will have to get new RAM. I have seen MSI boards that have both types, but using pc133 will cripple a newer CPU
Eva_Unit_0 Posted February 17, 2004 Posted February 17, 2004 His board only supports pc133 ram...no ddr here. It has the via kt133a chipset...I've got a cheapo gateway version of that board in my secondary rig.

Eva_Unit_0 Posted February 17, 2004 Posted February 17, 2004 Oooooooh, that makes a big difference. Any of the major-brand boards with the nforce2 chipset will be great. (asus a7n8x, abit nf7/nf7-s, gigabyte whatever, dfi lanpary/ultra infinity, so on) We always fight on which ones are the best, but it really doesn't matter too much. I think the dfi would be easiest on your wallet, and I hear they rock. For ram, you'll want to get at least pc3200 of some good-brand ram. (kingston, corsair, geil, mushkin are the big ones) Sorry if I'm being vague...I just hate telling people EXACTLY what to get...I think they should be able to pick from a range of stuff.
