Tjj226_Angel Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 That is a motherboard speaker. You plug it into your headers (the group of pins at the bottom right hand corner). It gives you feed back, so like if your computer is having a problem and won't post it will give you a warning message in the form of several short beeps. Great little device for trouble shooting. Kingfisher Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 Yep Tjj is correct. Speaker plugs into the header on motherboard along with your chassis switches, hdd led, reset, etc. great little gizmo.
Tjj226_Angel Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 To explain the situation a bit further, I have been working with the OP through the PM system on this issue. The real problem is that his on-board video is not working. He can not get into the BIOS, and there is zero video output. For the moment I have suggested two options. My first preference is that he exchanges the board for a good asus or EVGA board. Both are solid and well functioning. He has to get a small 30 dollar video card since the two particular boards I have showed him do not have video output. However, he should have a much more dependable board. The next thing would be to just get the 30 buck video card and simply live without onboard video. My assumption is that the board is the problem, but do you guys think it could be the CPU itself? Is there anyone who has had a similar issue with a possible fix? Any information you guys can share about this to get the Op moving in the right direction would be greatly appreciated
90sgamer Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 After he plugged that speaker in, did he get a POST beep? It could be failing to POST entirely as opposed to just a video problem.
DanTheGamer11 Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 (edited) Motherboards don't have an IGP any more... what processor do you have? Plug in the speaker to hear a series of beeps, the manual should have a troubleshooting guide for da beep beep bop So you using the mobo's vga/hdmi/dvi? Is it set to auto detect? Is the monitor plugged in before switching on the pc? Edited March 1, 2012 by Dan The Gamer

d6bmg Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 If no beep while POSTing, then the problem is with motherboard. And if beep(s) is(are) there, there might be different reason depending on the number & type of beeps.
