Mathiaslp Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 I have an Intel DX58OG board, and an Intel i7 920 @ 2.67GHz that I would like to overclock. I have 3 * 2GB Corsair Vengeance 1666MHz memory. Which cooler will you suggest I get for overclocking to somewhere around 3.6GHz. Im looking for a 24/7 stable overclock. Please take a look at the layout of my motherboard: http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/desktops/desktop-board-dx58og-interactive-layout-demo-video.html For example, the Corsair Hydro Series coolers dosn't work on my motherboard, since the heatsinks are taking too much space. Please keep that in mind when you suggest a cooler. Regards, Mathias
vandreadstriker Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 (edited) Go with the Noctua NH-D14 It's Compatible with your Board (check here: http://noctua.at/main.php?show=compatibility_gen&products_id=34&lng=en#LGA1366_Intel) Didn't see your choice of RAM. It wouldn't fit under the NH-D14 Try the Noctua NH-U12P SE2 or NZXT Havik 140 The Havik 140 would run either neck in neck or a bit better then the NH-U12P SE2 Reviews here in OCC Havik 140 http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/nzxt_havik140/ NH-U12P SE http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/noctua_nhu12p/ Edited February 16, 2012 by vandreadstriker
d6bmg Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 My suggestion will be Noctua NH-U12P SE2. It will suffice for your planned 3.6GHz overclock.
MercuryDoun Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 NZXT Havik 140 IMO. Its a bit better than the U12P, not by a lot. But better! The Havik 140 is within 1-4 degree's(depends final overclock and on paste and case flow blah blah blah) of the NH-D14, also The Havik 140 is cheaper than both the NH-D14 and NH-U12P. d6bmg Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 ^ According to the review written here, it works almost as good as D14. But any users here? That's why I suggested Noctua one.
