rieds Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 im in the market for a am3+ motherboard for a fx processor. i bought some patriot PXD38G1866ELK memory which is apperently geared towards the intel 1866ddr3 boards. it works in my asus m5a78l-mlx but isn't listed on any am3+ boards except for the msi 990fxa-gd80. i don't need all the features of that board. i have a low end video card radion 5450. what chipset should i be looking at? if my memory works on one asus board will it work on the higher end am3+ boards? if it works with the 990fx chipset on a msi board does that mean it will work on any 990fx board? i'm confused. Black64 Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 You really should buy the mobo before you buy the ram, you will have to check each mobo to see if the ram works before you buy it. I would say there is a good chance it will work thou.
cery25 Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 it will work if you buy a mobo who can suport 1800 mhz ddr3 with no problem , intel or amd
d6bmg Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 If any motherboard which you will buy doesn't support 1866MHz ram it will auto under-clock the RAM nodules.
