Should i trade 5770Vapor to Gtx260 216 Palit

Recommended Posts

My 5770 still has 1 1/2 years warranty , i'm looking to trade for a nvidia card because my mobo dislike ATI :/ been giving me some driver issues . Problem is the 260 gtx has no more warranty but he is willing to top up approx $50 usd and give me a personal warranty of 3 days . What do you guys think ?

What drivers are you using that you are having problems with?

Bottom line on the 5770 vs the GTX260, the performance is about the same. The 5770 however is much more efficient than the 260, meaning it runs ALOT cooler and uses less power, but still produces the same performance. You have a warranty with the 5770, I wouldn't even think about doing this trade. But, I also am not sure what problems you are having with the mobo not liking you ATI gpu, could you be more specific?

The 5700 is better . I wet from 260 to 5770 and I gained DX11 and it ran cooler .

What driver version are you using ?

You'd be losing out big time trading that 5770.

I'm using 11.4 , did a clean driver sweeper sweep before installing drivers . It's a Palit 260 sonic 216 , still not good enough for a 5770 ?

The 5770 is just much more efficient than the 260, has DX11, and you still have over a yr on the warranty on the 5770! Sounds like a no brainer to me

Even if that GTX 260 had a warranty, I still wouldn't do the trade, at least if it was me ;)

If you are looking for an upgrade, and want to go Nvidia, I highly suggest looking at the 1GB GTX 460! Not sure where you are located, but you can prob still get around $100 for the 5770 on Ebay, and you can find deals on the GTX 460 for under $150 if your in the US. This would be a good upgrade and a performance boost!

I'm not looking for an upgrade cause i'm just playing games on a 1600x900 monitor . I just need a stable gpu with a stable driver . I got my 5770 @ approx $90usd and this guy is offering $50usd + 260 sonic to trade for 5770 , i am a little tempted lol . I'm living in singapore btw :)

OK, 1st I would want to narrow down the problems you are having with the 5770. Do you have another PC you could test it in? Also what are the specs of your current PC that you are having the 5770 problems with, this might be useful for getting help with the issues you are having! I know that ATI/AMD has had driver issues in the past. But, I owned probably close to 20 5770's total, and I don't remember having any driver issues. I loved the 5770, as I think everyone else who has owned them did. It really is a great card and at the time of their release, the held the crown of being the "best bang for your buck" gpu  Have you tried looking to see if others with your mobo have had similiar issues?

I did a google check and i'm not the only one with this UVD overriding issue , the other solves it via setting a profile but Catalyst 11.xx version doesn't even have a Profile option . Yep it's a great card solely if i just game but sometimes i wanna listen to youtube music and i can't because the UVD overrides 3D :/

The best thing to do is test the card in another PC. If it works in a dif PC, then something else is going on with your PC! If it doesn't work, then you know the card is bad and RMA it with Saphire!

you can also always try reinstalling Windows, usually my fail safe if I just cant figure out what is going on ;)
