Hey guys,

So as some of you know , I traded my AMD setup with my friend for an i7 setup.

I havent ever had an i7 and need help oc'ing . My friend set it at 4Ghz already at 200fsb x20 with 1.3375v but thats about it .

Theres odd settings for QPI and stuff . I need help , I want to get to 4.2ish and be nice and stable on the lowest voltage .

Any advice ? Oh and temps are around 75C at 4Ghz on a 29C hot day but i7 can take a lot of heat , I'd feel safe up to 85C .

Nyt - I know this is called the Over Clockers Club for a reason.......................

But trust me from a guy who has played with a combo almost exactly like yours for over a year - 4.0Ghz is a safe and sane speed for 24/7 operation. I'm sure that you have a D0 revision 920 because a C revision wouldn't be hitting 4.0Ghz at 1.33v cpu voltage.

The real challenge is that at higher CPU frequencies you need substantial bumps in QPI voltage on that board, especially when running high frequency memory. The only work around is to significantly drop your memory multiplier and keep your RAM in the 1500 - 1600Mhz range.

I've got the settings I used to get my P6TD Deluxe and 920 up to 4.53Ghz stable enough to compete in the Mushkin 3DMark06 challenge, but I don't think you would want to run those 24/7.............................

And I was using high end water cooling.
