El_Capitan Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 It freezes at BIOS? What motherboard and CPU?
leezaal Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 Gigabyte P67A UD4 B3 with i5 2500k voltages and temps are fine but what ever bios version i run i get the same thing. can boot into windows at 4.7ghz and it runs fine but when i power off and back on bios loses settings and freezes up. but it doesn't do this at 4.4ghz
El_Capitan Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 There's a setting or two in the BIOS that protects the system in case of high temps. Turn those off and try rebooting and see if that fixes it. Otherwise, I have no clue what it could be.
leezaal Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 those settings are already turned off and max temp is only 51c
El_Capitan Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 Try checking the Gigabyte forums. Maybe someone had the same issue before and it was resolved. I never had that happen to me, so I've no clue on how to help.

El_Capitan Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 Well, I had a new build to use for another workplace, and this time I went with a microATX build and undervolting to get the temps down on an i5-2500K. My goal was to have a powerful enough system for work, but somewhat portable as well. CPU: i5 2500K @3.8 GHz 1.140Vcore Antec KUHLER H20 620 Pull (12v) Max 72C Prime95 MB: MSI Z68MA-ED55 Memory: 4 x 4GB G.Skill RipJaws X F3-12800CL9Q @ 9-9-9-24-1T Graphics: GTX 460 1GB MSI Cyclone (stock voltage) @ 860/1720/2100 @ 0.975v Max 69C SSD (OS/SQL/Visual Studio): Corsair P128 PSU: CORSAIR Professional Series AX750 Gold Case: SilverStone Micro ATX Desktop Computer Case with Carrier Handle SG04B-FH (Black) 1.136V's at 3.8GHz with temps never reaching above 72C with an Antec KUHLER H20 620 in a pull-only config. Unfortunately, the case isn't as good as I thought it would be to put the radiator in a push/pull config. I was originally wanting a HD 6970 in there, but no way it would fit, and it's overkill, anyway (same with the PSU, but oh well). Nuclear Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 I need to get some new screenshots up, but here's where I'm at with my 2500k. CPU: Intel i5-2500k 24/7 Overclock: 5.0Ghz @ 1.37v / 1.38v loaded (20 pass LinX stable) Bench Overclock: 5.3GHz @ 1.47v / 1.49v loaded (3DMark11 / Vantage Stable) Other critical voltages: 24/7 Overclock: QPI/VTT @ 1.1v, CPU PLL @ 1.64v, VCSSA @ 0.935v Bench Overclock: QPI/VTT @ 1.2v, CPU PLL @ 1.72v, VCSSA @ 0.975v In both cases I'm running my GSkill Ripjaws X DDR3 1600MHz CL6 set @ 2133MHz 7-10-8-7 1T @ 1.58v My 24/7 temps max out at 60C on 2 of 4 cores during a 20 pass LinX test. The other 2 cores reach 58C during the same test. I'm using a Gigabyte P67a-UD4-B3 board with the F3D BIOS. I don't use a manual vcore because the vdroop under load is too great and causes major stability issues. I strongly recommend anyone using this board to use DVID offets to get the vcore their looking for or need.
