stueck9356 Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 Okay so I currently have the Noctua NH-U12P with two of their NF-P12 fans on it. I am really thinking about buying the silverstone fortress FT-02 case, and was wondering if it is worth it to upgrade the CPU cooler to the NH-D14 as well, for maximum cooling/sound suppression. I mean is it really $90 better? Heck, I might just buy a few S-Flex's and stick them on this cooler and call it a day (noctua fan's are quiet but I like the S-Flex sound better). Bizzlenitch Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 The temps will certainly be better... but "$90 better?" That's kind of up to you, my friend. It is a superior product to your current heatsink, but I don't think you're going to see anything crazy like 10-15C difference in temps (NH-D14 owners feel free to jump in anytime). In the end I think only you will be able to answer this question. BTW, what are your current idle and load temps? That'll give us a bit more information so that we might help you out a bit in your decision.

The D14 is a better cooler but yours is no slouch either. I think your current fans are better than the S-flex IMO. If your current temps are OK and your rig is quiet, whats not to like. Put the $90 into something else like faster hard drive or memory or a new game. :-)

stueck9356 Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 Yeah.. naaah. I think the FT-02 will lower my temps a few degrees, probably even them out at 70 or so, so 2 deg isn't worth $70 . Thanks though guys!
